What’re your views on evolution and science?

JD: Need both. If you reject evolution you are rejecting most forms of modern medicine so don’t reach for that next pill or that miracle operation if you don’t believe in these. That said, evolution and science do not kill or crowd out the role of religion and spirituality in our lives.

SM: Agreed. People who oppose evolution in the name of religion (all the religions!) have not evolved much anyway. Pretty much a follower of Heinrich Heine.

” In dark ages people are best guided by religion, as in a pitch-black night a blind man is the best guide; he knows the roads and paths better than a man who can see. When daylight comes, however, it is foolish to use blind, old men as guides. ” – Heinrich Heine.

What’s your view on women’s liberty and feminism?

JD: Freedom through full economic enfranchisement and political rights. Not government carve outs and exceptions or special Economic Rights.

SM: I absolutely despise this demarcation of male chauvinism and radical feminism. There should not be any debate on their equality but rather on how they compliment. Women are ahead of us in many fields, it is time to accept that as a fact. Similarly in some fields men are naturally ahead. I think any judgment should be strictly based on performance and nothing else.

What is the most important factor to be solved in front of US now?

JD: Creating sustainable jobs of the future in the open and competitive world marketplace we find ourselves working in. Education and encouraging young people to study science and engineering. Less lawyers please.

SM:  Fix economy, stop China, absolutely stop giving free benefits to the non-deserving.

What’s your view on intervention and war?

JD: Intervention is sometimes justified and needed. Realism. Modified Powell Doctrine. Modified how? 9-11 did change the reality of /or “new normal.” No politician got re-elected by letting the ‘baddies’ walk free. That said, I have a strong frowny face for extra-constitutional Executive Orders imposing a vision of the “Unitary Executive” led by either party.

SM: War is one of the ultimate truths of realism. No point debating it. It is needed. Intervention on the other hand should strictly be based on prudence and national interest.

What is your view on capitalism, competition, and economics in general?

JD: World can’t live without them. How do we pull the next billion people out of grinding poverty and provide political rights and increase liberties human dignity? “Democratic capitalism” and “state capitalism” are the last two economic systems standing on earth. I chose democratic capitalism over state capitalism. We will keep explaining why.

SM: Heard of those staunch, highly capitalist, 18th century competition based free market economy supporter? I am probably the worst of them. Need I say more?
